About Devon Partnership Trust

We provide mental health and learning disability services, as well as a range of specialist and secure services for the wider south west region and nationally. We are passionate about promoting good mental health and wellbeing. We strive to use the expertise and resources within our organisation, and through our partnerships, to deliver high quality services that are safe and focused on people's recovery.

Our values

At Devon Partnership NHS Trust we not only recruit employees based on their qualifications and experience - we recruit individuals who possess (and are able to demonstrate) the behaviours which underpin the core values of our organisation.

These values include such attributes as showing a commitment to quality of care, improving lives of others, giving respect, dignity and compassion. We can bring those values to life in our everyday tasks by giving a smile; making time for people; challenging ourselves and others, and being open to new ideas.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and applications are encouraged and welcomed from all sections of the community, regardless of any protected characteristics as governed by the Equality Act 2010. Part time, job share and flexible working applications will be considered and supported, where possible. We particularly encourage applicants with lived experience of mental health and learning disabilities.

We are a Disability Confident Employer. Applicants who declare a disability and meet the essential criteria in the job description will be invited to interview.

At Devon Partnership NHS Trust we want to attract and retain talented people and create a great place to work with a shared sense of pride and ambition. Our vision is to have an inclusive society where the importance of mental health and wellbeing is universally understood and valued. Recovery is at the heart of everything we do and we are one of the pioneers in driving forward the recovery agenda.

  • Are you looking for a new challenge, providing dynamic, high-quality inpatient care?
  • Can you put people first and provide nursing care that is person-centred, safe and compassionate?
  • Have you ever wanted to experience what it's like to live and work in a coastal part of beautiful Devon?

You will become part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team, to help define and deliver a package of care to people on our mixed gender ward that helps them on their road to recovery. We believe that with our help, people can improve their mental health, to recover independence and return to their local community.

This role is on a ward that operates on a 24/7 shift basis. You will qualify for unsocial enhancements in addition to your basic pay.

You will recognize the importance and benefits of positive risk taking in helping people with their recovery. The ability to work well within a team is essential. Location

Your base will be DelderfieldWard, The Cedars, Exeter, however under the current COVID-19 conditions this may be subject to alternative arrangements/change for example home working. About us

Join us at Devon Partnership NHS Trust and you'll become part of an award-winning organisation that is passionate about mental health and learning disability. One that cares about the people it supports - and one that also cares about its staff.

Our Adult Mental Health Directorate provides a clear pathway for people whether they are accessing our First Response Service, assessment, community or home treatment teams or our inpatient services

Our priority is in providing flexible care and support to people so they receive the right treatment at the right time within a supportive environment, be that in the community, at home or as an inpatient.

We are committed to preventing avoidable admissions, proactively supporting crisis management, and enabling supported timely discharge from our wards.

Your role in this pathway is vital as we continue to develop our therapeutic offer and our work in the development of the community framework in Devon.

We're genuinely committed to working together with the people who use our services, their families and carers. We involve them in everything that we say and do.

This is an exciting time for Devon Partnership NHS Trust as we continue to expand existing services and launch new mental health services across Devon.

If you do not hold a QCF/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, an equivalent qualification, or the Care Certificate - you will need to complete the Care Certificate within 3 months of commencement of the Band 3 post.

If you have a minimum of 6 months experience in the last 2 years working in a care role, but do not hold the Care Certificate you can complete the form "Care Certificate Evidence Document" from the additional documentation list to evidence that this experience is equivalent to the 15 standards as set out within the Care Certificate. You will need to take this completed form to interview where it will be reviewed by the appointing manager and if you meet the criteria, the manager can approve this in place of completing the Care Certificate.

More information about the content of the Care Certificate can be found at skillsforcare.org.uk/Learning-development/inducting-staff/care-certificate/Care-Certificate.aspx

We will also offer entry onto our Apprenticeship programme to initially undertake the Level 3 in Health & Social Care, this open to applications every 6 months.
