We would like to recruit an Electrically biased Technician for the Estates Department at the Princess Royal Hospital in Hayward's Heath, Sussex, and although based mainly on this site the successful applicants may be required to work within any buildings controlled by Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust as and when necessary.
  • To maintain and repair a wide range of Electrical, Mechanical and Medical Plant & Equipment and Building faults
  • Deputise for Team Leaders
  • Undertakes an Electrical Authorised Person role as a when required (Electrical bias Technicians) or deputy responsible person role relating to the management and control of Legionella (Mechanical Bias Technicians)
  • Undertakes the role of a medical gases competent person carrying out maintenance, repairs and duties related to medical gas pipeline systems.
  • Call approved Contractors for breakdowns.
  • To be included on the On-Call Rota, to meet emergency and urgent situations out of hours, for Building and Engineering. To be prepared to respond to emergency work outside normal working hours.
  • Deal with Major incidents such as loss of electrical services to critical areas, Loss of Medical gas to critical areas, loss of heating and hot water services to critical areas.
  • Assist to motivate, train and develop the maintenance team and apprenticeship scheme, ensuring the effective use of labour and materials to provide an efficient maintenance service for the Trust's building assets and to support Trust Managers.

Applicants will have c ompleted and passed a 4 year apprenticeship, ideally have gained an HNC, NVQ level 3 or suitable City and Guilds equivalent in Electrical installations or maintenance.
