Do you want to be part of a talented team of analysts building an innovative analytics product that helps inform and empower decision makers across the NHS? Would you also like to study for an MSc Level 7 Apprenticeship while also gaining real world experience?

The Health Informatics Department at University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) has an exciting opportunity to join the team responsible for building the HED (Healthcare Evaluation Data) tool, an online analytics platform providing benchmarking and performance analysis to NHS organisations across England.

In your role as a Graduate Apprentice Data Analyst in the HED team, you'll get to:
  • Apply your skills in SQL, data management and analytics to tackle compelling technical problems within healthcare
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the NHS datasets, processes and analytical techniques used to update our system and deliver value to our customers
  • Collaborate with our business managers, web developers and data scientists to design and implement data-centred developments which benefit the NHS
  • Empower users by responding to technical queries and creating bespoke analytical reports
  • Develop new skills and learn from within a close-knit, enthusiastic and highly effective analytics team with a strong ethos of personal development

Alongside this role you will supported with appropriate study leave in order to complete a Digital and Technology Solutions Specialist MSc Degree Apprenticeship with Aston University, under the 'Data Analyst' specialism.

Desired qualifications

This role is conditional on being accepted onto the course, which has the following requirements:
  • An undergraduate degree (at least a 2.1 or overseas equivalent), with consideration for candidates with equivalent knowledge and skills gained through other formal training and/or professional experience;
  • Functional Skills level 2 in English and mathematics (equivalent to GCSE level 4 / grade C).

Shortlisted applicants will first be invited to a brief phone interview, with the best-performing candidates invited back for a longer second interview via video on MS Teams.

This role is based at Yardley Court, Edgbaston but will initially be based remotely due to the current coronavirus restrictions. The post is currently offered on a 30-month fixed term basis in line with the length of the course.
