Shared Financial Services are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Finance Apprentice to work in our busy Financial Management, Treasury and Exchequer teams.

The successful candidate will be working as part of a team and your key duties include:
  • Delivering financial/management accounting support
  • Treasury management
  • Maintaining and improving our finance system and processes
  • Accounts payable

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to use IT systems in a wide range of applications, the ability to work to time sensitive deadlines with excellent attention to detail, be able to work well on their own as well as when part of a team, possess good communication and inter personal skills and have high levels of integrity, honesty, reliability and confidentiality.

This post will encompass a wide range of responsibilities as outlined in the Job description.

Although based at the Town Hall, Chorley, the candidate may be required to work across Shared Services which includes the Civic Centre Leyland.

As part of the apprenticeship, the successful applicant will be required to study for the AAT Accounting Level 4and will therefore need to have the minimum entry requirements for the course.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Working knowledge of ICT programs, preferably MS Office
  • Experience of basic clerical/administrative procedures

  • Ability to work as part of team or to use your own initiative.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload
  • Ability to work proactively and within service standards

Desired qualifications

5 x GCSE's A*-C / 9-4 which must include GCSE English and Maths at A*-C / 9-4 or equivalent AND an AAT Level 3 or equivalent Level Accounting Qualification.

Future prospects

Potential progression depending on Level and consideration for a permanent role.

The salary is National Minimum Wage for your age group.
