We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of £320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 100 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby. We provide a range inpatient and community services to 2m people living in County Durham, the Tees Valley, Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale, Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire. We also provide additional specialist services to other parts of Northern England.

We deliver our services by working in partnership with eight local authorities and clinical commissioning groups, a wide range of voluntary organisations, as well as service users, their carers and the public. The services are spread over a wide geographical area of around 3,600 square miles, which includes coastal, rural and industrial areas.

To ensure that social work continues to make a major contribution within TEWV towards the service development of Health and Justice Services, there is an exciting opportunity for a senior social worker to join the Health and Justice services in the North Yorkshire area.

This post has been developed following increased service demand due to Covid-19. We are therefore seeking a band 7 social worker to provide leadership in helping improve lives by developing the role of social work, engaging with service users and carers who access Health and Justice Services to enhance their journey to better mental health. This will include psychosocial support for service users transitioning between services, and placements, offering specialist knowledge regarding the support needs for those accessing services and in addition, guidance, advice and service development for service users and carers and multidisciplinary teams from the point of contact of accessing services throughout the treatment journey, promoting shared decision making and compassionate leadership.

This band 7 posts, open to registered social workers with relevant qualifications and working at the level of an Advanced Social Workers as defined in the Professional Capability Framework (PCF), who are enthusiastic, motivated and demonstrate a commitment to a high standard of care. The successful candidates will have responsibility for the effective management and clinical leadership and development of social workers employed in a range of roles in TEWV
