Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust was established as a NHS Trust in 2011, and as a NHS Foundation Trust in November 2014. We are offering an excellent opportunity in the Financial Accounts team to support the Senior Financial Accountant and Financial Accountant in the role of Assistant Financial Accountant. The post holder will assist in all areas of Financial Accounting with plenty of scope for an experienced candidate to broaden their portfolio further, working in an outstanding and supportive team.

We are looking for an ambitious and talented individual to join our team in a role which offers excellent personal and career development, including study support and a first class remuneration package. The applicant should be an ambitious CCAB student or AAT qualified/ finalist who is committed to achieving full CCAB qualification.

The Role

  • To manage the relationship with the shared service provisions with external organisations for financial services and payroll, in order to ensure the Trust is compliant with legislation and codes such as BPPC.
  • To produce timely, accurate and relevant reconciliations, analytical work, investigative work and the production of supporting schedules to the required professional standards in accordance with stated timetables. To deputise for the Financial Accountant as required.
  • To provide support to the Financial Accountant and the Senior Financial Accountant in ensuring that the Trust's financial position is reported accurately, in accordance with statute and accounting standards, on a timely basis.
  • The post will also play a key operational role as part of the technical accounting team in producing statutory returns within the appropriate timescales and legal requirements.

The Person
  • Be able to work to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment to high degrees of accuracy.
  • You will be an interactive team player, able to complete accurate reconciliations and working papers to support the Trust's monthly/annual position.
  • You will need to be a strong communicator and in particular able to communicate with staff, other NHS bodies, debtors and suppliers as required.

Study Support

In all cases successful candidate will be supported to complete their professional accountancy qualification through the Trust's apprenticeship programme which will involve study costs being fully funded as well as the provision of 20% of the individual's time being dedicated to off the job training.

The Trust has taken the decision to recharge successful candidates for the cost of their DBS disclosure. This post requires a(n) Enhanced / Standard DBS disclosure. The current price of this is £48.43/£30.43. The Trust will pay the initial costs, which will be recovered, in installments, from your first three salary payments.
