THIS POST IS FIXED TERM UNTIL 30/06/2021 TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE.

Contact tracing is a tried and tested method of controlling the spread of infectious diseases.

As lockdown restrictions are gradually relaxed, Welsh Government has introduced Test, Trace, Protect. Implemented by Public Health Wales in partnership with Health Boards and local Councils across Wales, its aim is to limit the spread of infection, trace the virus and protect our communities. This role is integrated into the service delivery of the Gwent Test, Trace, Protect Programme

It works by:

testing people who have symptoms, while they, and their households, self-isolate;

tracing people who have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive, and asking them to self-isolate;

protecting the community by reducing the onward spread of COVID-19, especially to the most vulnerable;

allowing people (and their households) who test negative and whose symptoms are not due to coronavirus to return to their usual routines.

What is the Gwent Test, Trace and Protect Service?

All five Local Authorities in Gwent and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB) are working together to deliver a contact tracing service across Gwent.

As a Contact Tracer, the post holder will provide first line support in contact tracing for COVID-19 related cases and their contacts. The post holder will manage more complex contacts/calls/settings escalated by the team and should therefore have excellent communication skills to work in partnership with ABUHB and the five local authorities. It is also essential to have excellent IT skills to use the TTP database system of recording all contact tracing information.

As part of our commitment to developing a bilingual workforce, applications are welcomed from candidates who can demonstrate their ability to work in both English and Welsh as well as those with additional language skills.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Closing date: 14th January 2020

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the resident labour market test. UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UKVI website.
