The Pharmacy Department at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in Reading is looking for aspirational, enthusiastic, self-motivated and compassionate individuals to embark on a career as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
You will be organised, have excellent time management skills and have continuous self motivation to complete the two year training programme to become a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Qualified and registered Pharmacy Technician roles are now diverse and integral to Pharmacy Services and actively support multidisciplinary teams across a wide range of healthcare sectors, leading to careers in:-

As registration and the completion Professional Revalidation is mandatory, this is an exciting time to train, qualify and practice as a Pharmacy Technician. At the Royal Berkshire we facilitate an excellent Training programme for the two years.
As a Trainee Pharmacy Technician you will rotate through:-
Dispensary (inpatients and outpatients)
Pharmacy Stores & Procurement
Medicines Management
Medicines Information
Clinical Trials
Technical Services
Home care
You will be provided with full support and training in these areas from work based supervisors/mentors and on-line Assessors as well as study time to complete the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians alongside regular support from a designated Education Programme Director (Practice Educator Pharmacy Technician).
This training opportunity is a full time, 2 year, fixed-term contract and you will need to achieve the Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians course via an approved and GPhC accredited course provider and will follow the apprenticeship route.
Applicants will be strictly assessed against the Person Specification criteria of the job description and would need to be able to commence the post End of Jan / Feb 2021 for a February start on the qualification.
Previous experience of Pharmacy and completion of the NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services would be desirable but is not essential.
Potential candidates will be invited to attend an interview and will be subject to a literacy and numeracy assessment.
Entry Requirements:
5 GCSE's at grade A*- C/9-4, which must include Maths, English Language, at least 2 Science subjects and 1 other GCSE (standard required by the GPhC and training course providers).
English: GCSE grade* 4 or above. An Alternative is that you have a certificate in Level 2 Literacy
Maths: GCSE grade* 4 or above. An Alternative is that you have a certificate in Level 2 numeracy
Science: GCSE grade* 4 or above in Double Science or Biology. An alternative is that you will have achieved at least merit in a Level 2 BTEC Applied Science.

As part of our development programme, Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust in collaboration with Henley Business School, Reading, offer a 3 year BA (Hons) in Applied Management. As a Trust, we are delighted to offer such prestigious programme which is accredited with Chartered Management Institutes . We are the only NHS Trust offering this programme and it is a unique opportunity for our staff. Normal application and acceptance process will apply for staff who want to undertake this course.
