What will the apprentice be doing?

Electronic/Electronic Technical Support Engineers primarily support manufacturing in both assembly and in product design and development. Typically they work closely with other engineers, suppliers and managers covering a broad range of support activity, which can include:

Designing mechanical assemblies and electrical circuits
Maintaining various components and engineering systems
Working with remote handling applications
Installation of electrical cubicles

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

During the Foundation stage, the apprentice must develop a solid grasp of the core engineering skills. These skills will prepare the apprentice for the workplace in demonstrating that they have the required manual dexterity to do their core role.

For the Development Phase the apprentice will build on their foundation knowledge by completing a BSc (Hons) or BEng (Hons) in Engineering.

Training will most likely be block release, however STC.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The expected career progression is to become an Electricial Engineer with a specialism in High Power Systems. Further professional development and registration is subject to candidates successfully completing the appropriate learning, developing the appropriate competence, and undergoing professional review.
