** Fixed Term / Secondment for 12 Months **

Joining the award winning Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) and the Microbiology team has never been at a more rewarding time; throughout our Trust we are investing in our staff and expanding our facilities. The Microbiology Team is seeking a Biomedical Healthcare Scientist (BMS) to increase this statistic even further!

The department itself, provides a UKAS accredited to ISO15189 Microbiology diagnostic and clinical support service to the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, James Paget Hospital, 5 Clinical Commissioning Groups as part of the Eastern Pathology Alliance, covering all aspects of Bacteriology, Mycology, Virology, Serology and Molecular diagnostics. We are also an IBMS approved training laboratory which is currently equipped with systems such as MALDI-TOF, Vitek, Sysmex UF5000, BacT/ALERT, MIGIT TB, EntericBio, Cepheid, WASP. LIMS is provided by Telepath

The successful Biomedical Healthcare Scientists for this post will work autonomously in Microbiology and be required to perform a range of tests in Bacteriology, Virology and Serology. In addition to this, your related tasks will include isolation, identification and interpretation of results and subsequently reporting these results in accordance with Laboratory policies.

You should hold an IBMS-accredited Biological Sciences degree or equivalent qualification and have a current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), ideally with a specialist diploma or equivalent clinical laboratory experience.
