Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

We need grafters who'll get stuck into the job. Sometimes things get tough. There are lots of ups and downs in an industry like ours: projects can change; you can run into some pretty big obstacles (like, say, elephant remains on your building site). So we need people who aren't fazed by that: you get your nose down and you work hard, whatever comes your way.

Personal qualities

Go-getters who own their development. We support our apprentices and graduates, and we recognise their successes, but nothing's going to be handed to you on a plate here. If you want a promotion, you've got to work for it, and if you want to learn something, it's up to you to pursue it.

Above all, we need people who believe in our values:
  • Never Harm
  • Always Deliver
  • One Family, One Team, One Murphy
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Integrity - Respect for All

Desired qualifications

A2 level: AAA from three A2 levels to include mathematics and a Physical Science. If grades do not include mathematics, this will be subject to passing a Mathematics Test.

BTEC: DDD in the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma to include Calculus to solve Engineering problems and Further Engineering mathematics OR D*D in the BTEC Level 3 Diploma and grade A in A2 level mathematics. If grades do not include mathematics, this will be subject to passing a mathematics Test.

Candidates with non-standard qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis and will be subject to passing a mathematics Test.

Due to the nature of the work and size of our sites we require you to have, or be working towards, achieving a full, clean, UK driving licence.

Future prospects

You're the future of the Murphy world: the new starters who'll one day grow to be our experts and our leaders.
