What will the apprentice be doing?

With a combination of digital and classroom-based learning, you'll take modules in Systems Development, Solution Architecture, Planning & Implementing Dev Ops, Designing & Developing Products for the Internet of Things, and more. You'll gain hands-on experience working alongside industry leaders who'll share their knowledge with you. Alongside your Vodafone role this will help you develop into an expert Software Engineer.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Though typically a mix of classroom-based and digital learning, this year most of the learning content will be provided digitally. All apprentices join as part of a cohort who will complete their learning modules together. Learning is structured into the working week with an expectation of 20% of each week being spent on apprenticeship learning content.

At the end of the four years, you'll have a BSc (Hons) Degree in Digital & Technology Solutions, specialising in Software Engineering.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

At the end of the apprenticeship, once you have qualified, you will have developed specialist capabilities/skills, becoming an expert in your chosen area. All apprentices finish their programme with a permanent role secured and access to further development opportunities, including top-up apprenticeships where applicable.

With a long history of apprentices in our business, apprentices can and do reach senior management level within their chosen speciality area and are supported to do so.

Things to consider

While the role will be primarily based in Newbury, 90% of our staff are currently working from home. As we become #FutureReady, we expect this flexibility around working location to continue even once it is possible to return to offices, so that employees are able to work from home just as often or even more often than they work from the office.
