Trainee Safety & Environment Engineer Apprenticeship

Magnox Ltd is a subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) responsible for the safe and secure clean-up of 12 nuclear sites and operation of one hydro-electric plant across the UK.

What you'll be doing:

Safety & Environment Engineer – Safety, Health & Environment Technician Standard Reference: ST0550 – Level 3.

You will support the Head of Safety in the following areas:

· Assist in review and update of documentation/procedures in relevant aspects of conventional safety.

· Assist with the development and communication of ‘Target Zero’ safety Campaign material.

· Undertake activities required to support conventional safety across a range of regulations.

· Liaise with interested parties, e.g. Safety Representatives, Engineering, on Health, Safety and Welfare issues and assist with corrective measures.

· Comply with the Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures, work instructions and risk assessments. Support the continuous improvement of Health and Safety on Site.

· Develop knowledge in Fire Safety and become a fire risk assessor.

· As a customer-focused individual, the post holder will be expected to support delivery and compliance within their range of skills, knowledge, experience and competence.

· Participate in the development and embedment of the Site’s emergency scheme.

 

What you'll need:

· Five GCSEs in the 9 to 4 (A* to C) range including Maths and English, and have knowledge to level 1 equivalent for commonly used office computer applications.

· Effective oral & written communication skills

· Numeracy / Problem Solving

· Attention to detail and a pro-active approach

· A ‘can-do’ attitude

· Team player

· Interest in a career in SHE Management.

· Commitment to safety

 

Training Provider Information

· Training provider will be RHG Consult

· Length of training – 24 months

· Training will be delivered using a blended online distance learning with the possibility of attendance at tutor led sessions.

Travel, accommodation allowance for attendance at training included, if applicable.

 

Working Information

Working hours: 37 hours per week - Monday to Thursday (07:25-17:00)

Salary: 1st Year - £12,500, 1st Year after 6 months - £14,000, 2nd Year - £16,836

Key things to consider:

· Due to the remote location of the site, own transport is an advantage.
