About the apprenticeship


• As part of your role you will carry out a variety of administrative duties which could range from processing applications and dealing with follow-up queries from our customers to working with the wider IPO to support understanding of intellectual property. Person Specification: IPO apprenticeships are open to all residents of Wales aged 16 plus. Main Duties will comprise some or all of: • Arranging meetings, taking minutes, recording outcomes and following up actions. • Liaising with customers and stakeholders, co-ordination of information. • Drafting of documents and record keeping. • Administrative support to working groups, senior staff and directors, through diary and inbox management on the job training will be provided. • Provide Administration at all stages of the Patents and Trade Marks process. • Monitoring emails and replying to queries appropriately. • Drafting communication to the team, directorates and wider. Successful candidates will start 03/05/2021

Additional information

Due to Covid-19, new starters will initially be asked to work from home within the UK until any Government policy changes. When staff are permitted to return to office-based working, the post holder will be based in Newport. Although, some remote working may still be possible. Successful applicants will be provided with computer screens and a laptop for work purposes but you will need to have internet access.

Candidates are NOT eligible to apply if they hold any of the following qualifications: • a degree in ANY subject • NVQ Business Administration level 3 • a BTEC in Business Administration • an Extended Diploma in Business Administration level 3 If an applicant currently holds a BTEC or NVQ in a discipline other than business related, they would be eligible to apply. In addition, candidates must not be in receipt of any other grant or funding.


The entry qualifications for this role are 5 GCSE's A* - C or equivalents. If you are currently sitting exams you may apply with your predicted grades. However, any subsequent offer of employment will be conditional on confirmation of your actual achieved grades.
