Successful apprentices will be guided by Senior Engineers and management gaining commercial experience and providing key technical support in the financial management of the projects they are assigned to.

Apprentices will work alongside experts in all areas of the business to develop knowledge and understanding of their assigned project and of Farrans working culture. Through mentoring and coaching apprentices will be given numerous opportunities and challenges which will help support them build their career in a fast paced and stimulating environment.

Duties will include:
  • Assist with the site set-up
  • Support Site Engineer check drawings and plans, quantities for accuracy
  • Compile data and capture records to monitor the use of site resources
  • Communicate with local authorities to ensure compliance with construction regulations and legislation
  • Liaise with Site Engineers to ensure the delivery of programme is within deadline and agreed budget
  • Provide assistance to the Site Engineers, liaising with clients and carrying out site investigations
  • Check designs, drawings and data to ensure quality control and compliance procedures are adhered to

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent attention to detail and meticulous planning and organisational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise

  • Passionate about the construction and building industry
  • Capable of working on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Flexible approach to working hours and various locations throughout the UK
  • An excellent professional demeanour

Desired qualifications

  • Apprenticeship candidates will have at least three A levels at Grades A*-C including mathematics and Physical Science (Either Physics or Chemistry) or will have completed aBTEC National Diploma in a relevant field for the degree
  • Candidates are also required to start the programme holding a Level 2 maths and English qualification (GSCE grade A*- C (9-4) which is compulsory within the apprenticeship requirements
