Siemens in Manchester is the UK Siemens Headquarters, responsible for sales, marketing and customer services for the global industrial market. The challenge

We have two options to join our Engineering Degree Apprenticeship: the standard entry route straight into our rotational program at the Manchester location, and a second option which extends our programme by one year and offers the successful applicants a year in our training school based in Berlin to learn about key technologies and how they are revolutionising Industry. Our apprenticeship programme lasts for approximately 5 years, during which time you will spend time studying towards your academic qualifications and rotate around the business before specialising in a chosen discipline.

Here is what you can make a difference in:
  • Travelling to customer locations across the UK to diagnose faults, repair equipment and fit new equipment to ensure our customer's equipment is are running as efficiently as possible.
  • Working on engineering projects helping our customers' introduce Digital and Automation solutions
  • Work with cutting edge technology on innovative customer challenges.
  • Support the marketing and sales of our products into the market.
  • Spend time with our Siemens Industrial Training business helping customers learn how to use our technology.

Part of being an apprentice at Siemens means you get to work on real life projects whilst also being supported. During this apprenticeship you will work towards an HND in Electrical & Electronic Engineering on a block release basis before earning your degree which is a BEng (Hons) in Automation & Control - A unique top-up degree solution delivered in conjunction with the University of Salford that includes our own Siemens Certified PLC Programmer Accreditation.

Minimum educational requirements:

You will have achieved or be on track to achieve two A Levels at Grades A*-C or equivalent (at least one must be Maths or Physics).

We also welcome applications from those with a BTEC Level 3 certificate in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with at least a DDM grading.

What else do I need to know?

Throughout the apprenticeship there will be the requirement of overtime as well as travel to Siemens and Customer locations within the UK and potentially travel outside of the UK. This can also be required at short notice.

This apprenticeship scheme is recognised by the IMechE and the IET and leads to professional registration (EngTech/IEng) with the Engineering Council UK.
