18 month professional qualification


We are looking for 3 apprentices or graduates as a trainee and training them on a course.

You need to be interested in a career in the logistics sector. This is a professional qualification which runs for 18 months, as well as receiving a BIFA qualification as part of the course.

Main purpose of the role:

Working as a Customs Apprentice involves the preparation of Customs documentation so that commodities can enter or exit one country to another, whilst ensuring all legal requirements are met in accordance with HMRC regulations.

Principal Requirements/Responsibilities:

Throughout the term of the Apprenticeship to learn and then complete:

Supporting the Customs team, obtaining important documentation to facilitate customs declarations for our clients
Liaising with clients, importers/exporters and internal operational colleagues to obtain this mandatory information
Recognise client commercial invoice(s) and packing list(s) extracting data as necessary to complete import or export declarations
Entering details onto specialised Customs software
Calculation and processing of taxes and duties to be paid by buyers of goods and also making those payments on behalf of clients
Preparation of necessary import/export documentation
General office dutiesApprenticeship responsibilities

Complete all assigned Apprenticeship work on time, in full and to the best of your ability
Allocate time outside of work to complete assigned Apprenticeship coursework
Attend training and assessment sessions where assigned
Keep all Apprenticeship work up to date and tidy
Keep your Line Manager, Mentor and assigned Assessor up to date with your Apprenticeship tasks and assignments.
Full training will be given in all areas of European Operational dutiesExperience / Skills required:

Recognised good pass rate for GCSE in Maths and English
Office experience is desirable but is not essential. Full on the job training will be provided
Experience within a logistics or transport company would be an added advantage
Ability to work on own initiative
Strong communication skills are vital in this role both written and verbally, as you will be required to compile documentation and be able to interpret the legal requirements on behalf of customers in a clear and simple way
Ability to operate windows based applications and any other software that is standard within the industry
Excellent numerical skills are essential due to the calculation of VAT and Duty on behalf of HMRCWorking hours:

Monday to Friday, 37.5 hour per week between 9 a.m. - 5.30 p.m. (this includes a one hour meal break which is unpaid)
