In the different business areas of various government departments, you will be tasked with undertaking the following work:
- Identifying, collecting and migrating data to/from a range of systems;
- Manipulating and linking different data sets as required;
- Assisting with data quality checking and cleansing;
- Applying the tools and techniques for data analysis visualization and presentation;
- Summarising and present the results of data analysis to a range of customers making recommendations;
- Interpreting and applying the organization's data and information security standards, policies and procedures to data;
- Performing database queries across multiple tables to extract data for analysis;
- Performing routine statistical analysis and ad-hoc queries which may include the production of reports;
- Using a range of analytical techniques such as data mining, time series, forecasting and modelling techniques to - identify and predict trends and patterns in data;
- Assisting with data quality checking and cleansing;
- Working with the organization's data architecture

Successful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check.
Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is
security check

People working with government assets must complete basic personnel security standard checks.



To be a successful Data Analyst apprentice we are looking for someone who has:
- Logical and creative thinking skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work independently and build rapport and good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- The ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations
- Good IT and mathematical skills with the ability to learn new systems and ways of working
- The ability to work effectively as a team player
- Effective planning and organising skills and the ability to work under pressure
What qualifications will I get?

Data Analytics - Level 4
All apprentices who meet the scheme's milestones will receive a level 4 diploma.
The post is offered on a Fixed Term contract for 2 years.


Standard eligibility criteria for apprenticeships apply:
• You are a UK citizen (or have the Right of Abode in the UK, or are a citizen of a country within the
EU, European Economic Area or Switzerland and have been ordinarily resident in such country for at least the last 3 years; with (or eligible for) status under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS).
• You must hold GCSEs in Maths and English at Grade c or above.
The apprenticeship offers substantive new skills and knowledge;
• You must not already have a qualification of the same type, content and level
• You must not be undertaking another apprenticeship at the same time.
• You must not hold a qualification which makes you eligible to join the GSS graduate route (A first or second class honours degree in a numerate subject containing at least 25% taught statistical content (e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Sciences, Business Studies, Psychology, Geography or similar); or a higher degree, e.g. an MSc or PhD, in a subject containing formal statistical training (e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Sciences, Business Studies, Psychology, Geography or similar)
• Evidence of A-Level in Maths (or equivalent)
To apply for this apprenticeship, you should have, or hope to obtain by September 2021 the following:
Level 2 English and Maths (e.g. GCSE A* - C) and either:
• Level 3 IT Apprenticeship in a technical subject.;
• 2 A-Levels including Maths / ICT with strong English skills.

Learners may be considered for entry based on previous experience (e.g. having done Data Analysis previously)

Interview arrangements

This vacancy is using Success Profiles , and will assess your Behaviours, Ability, Experience and Technical skills. Application and online test: Candidates should apply using a CV and a personal statement of 500 words. We are looking for how your studies and/or previous experience in work or outside interests makes you suitable to start a career as a data scientist. You will be invited to take an online verbal reasoning test as part of the application process. Your CV and Qualifications section must evidence that: 1. Your current qualification level meets the eligibility criteria, providing details of all qualifications and grades required; 2. Your current and past studies or previous experience show you are suitable to undertake analytical work. In your Personal Statement we are looking for evidence of: 1. Logical and creative thinking skills; 2. Work independently and build rapport with good working relationships across the team. 3. Have good mathematical skills and IT skills and the ability to learn new systems and ways of working; 4. Commitment and drive to completing the apprenticeship programme. As the criteria are scored, we would recommend that you give clear examples. Success Profiles Behaviour examples are not required at this stage. Assessment Centre: If you are successful at sift stage you will be invited to an assessment this will consist of a Technical exercise and formal interview. The Technical exercise will give you the opportunity to show us your numeracy and analytical skills. At interview candidates will be asked about the information contained in their CV and personal statement. The interview will also assess a candidate's potential to: - take ownership of their development; - analyse data; - be able to work at pace, both individually and in a team. Questions will align to Civil Service Behaviours; • Working Together • Developing Self and Others • Managing a Quality Service Sifting will commence from 22nd March 2021 Interviews will be scheduled from w/c 12th April 2021
