We are currently looking to employ a full time Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to join our Therapy Team at Cygnet Hospital Stevenage. The successful candidate will join the Psychology Department comprised of a Principal Forensic Psychologist, Principal Clinical Psychologist, and a Head of Psychology, as well as assistant psychologists and psychology students.

The applicant will be an HCPC registered Clinical or Forensic Psychologist with experience in clinical forensic settings. Trainee Clinical or Forensic Psychologists who are due to be registered with the HCPC within the next six months will also be considered. Training in complex therapies such as Schema, Cognitive Analytical, DBT and MBT will be an advantage.

Cygnet Hospital Stevenage is an 87 bedded hospital with six wards consisting of a medium secure male ward, two low secure (male and female) wards, two PICU male wards and one acute female ward. The successful candidate will mainly offer psychology provision to our low secure male ward.

Our goal at Cygnet is to deliver effective and evidenced based interventions that improve mental health and reduce risk. We offer an integrated care pathway for service users who are able to successfully move on to independent community living. This is further supported by our broad range of therapies which include: Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Psychosis, ACT-Informed Substance Misuse Therapy, Fire Setters Programme, Sex Offenders Treatment Programme, Cognitive Analytical Therapy and Mentalisation Based Therapy. We also offered low level interventions.

The successful candidate will work as a team psychologist within a multi-disciplinary team and play a role in training, supervision and service development according to skills, experience and areas of interest. As a ward psychologist you will apply skills and expertise in clinical and risk assessments, collaboratively develop formulations and care plans and deliver group and individual psychological interventions, and consult to the MDT.

Cygnet Hospital offers excellent opportunities for training and skills development. An attractive training package is also available (i.e. CAT, Schema, DBT, MBT)

We also offer a company benefits package which includes contributory pension scheme, free life insurance, share incentive plan, and free meals.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require current Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the current Resident Labour Market Test which will be in place until the end of December 2020. UK Visas and Immigration requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, have had to present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) are also subject to this requirement.
