Do you want a varied role where no two days are the same?

We have an electrical maintenance technician post available within our award-winning Capital Investment and Estates Services Directorate.

Our electrical maintenance technicians provide vital day-to-day estate maintenance to ensure our staff can continue to provide the best care to our patients and service users.

We have a wide range of services across our localities so each day will be different and busy but rewarding. You will support the maintenance supervisor to ensure that our wards and departments receive responsive support for logged calls; ensure ongoing compliance; work with other trade contractors and attend to emergency repairs.

You will have previous maintenance experience, ideally with knowledge of NHS estates and associated equipment although not essential. You will be reliable and committed, with great people skills. You will be willing to work flexible hours and to participate in on-call duties out of normal working hours to attend to emergency repairs.

This consists of an annual pay of £21,892 to 24,157 plus an additional recruitment retention premium of £3,200. Service/Ward/Department Summary:

Capital Investment and Estate Services are responsible for providing a safe, secure and supportive environment to all wards and departments throughout the Trust.

We work closely with clinical teams to ensure the physical environment and the services provided are developed to the best standard possible for patients, carers, staff and visitors.

Role Summary:

Maintenance Technicians Multi-skilled, Electrical, Mechanical and Building.

Provide a basic multi-skilled maintenance service across all trades as required together with a comprehensive specialist service in one particular trade (Electrician, Fitter, Plumber, Joiner) to all wards and departments in a multi-site, multi-disciplined environment ensuring compliance with the Trust's safety standards and procedures

Post holders will be required to participate in on-call duties out of normal working hours to attend to emergency repairs.

Candidates for these posts will be required to work at all properties within Pennine Care NHS Trust and will require a clean, current driving licence.

Key Responsibilities of the Post:
  • Provide emergency recall and undertake on-call duties as part of the on-call team to ensure that emergency repairs occurring out of normal hours are attended to
  • To liaise and work with other trades/disciplines including external agencies (contractors).
  • Participate fully in the Maintenance Management Systems completing timesheets and job dockets and providing all relevant information
  • Interpret detailed building drawings and specifications to instruct and advise others
  • Drive Trust vehicles as and when required
  • Train and instruct other trades including apprentices and new starters as and when required
  • To attend NHS and Manufacturers' training establishments as necessary.

Key Requirements of the Person Specification:
  • Recognised time-served apprenticeship
  • BTEC or ONC in a Building Services discipline or equivalent
  • Written and verbal communication skills in order to be able to liaise with staff at all levels of the organisation
  • Capable of working in a demand-driven service
  • Availability for on-call duties [30 minute response time]
  • Current full driving licence
  • Extensive knowledge of Building Services

All new starters to Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust who are appointed to a post which requires a Disclosure Barring Certificate check (DBS) will be recharged for the full cost of the check. Substantive staff will have the amount deducted from their first months' salary. Members to the Trust bank must repay the full amount from their first pay. The Trust encourages all staff and bank workers to register with the DBS update service at an annual cost of £13, for bank members this is obligatory. The cost of an enhanced DBS check is £40 and for a standard check £23, both attract an administration charge of £3.50.
