Gaining experience exploring a range of building types ranging from working on the latest sports stadiums to iconic buildings, including the construction of new buildings and the conservation of our heritage.

As a new Quantity Surveyor at Huntley Cartwright you will learn how to be a cost consultant within the construction industry.

You will learn about and will undertake a wide range of duties, including:
  • Monitoring, controlling and reporting the cost of many different types of building project
  • Developing good working relations with people of all levels involved in the construction industry, including clients, architects, engineers, contractors and other professional people
  • Time spent away from the office, visiting clients, fellow professionals and construction projects
  • Preparation of documentation specific to this profession, including cost estimates, feasibility studies, bills of quantities, tender documents, contract documents, financial reporting and the preparation of final accounts

In order to join our team there are certain criteria that must be met:
  • You are eligible to live, work and remain in the UK and a commutable distance to Caterham, Surrey
  • Numeracy, IT, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to relate to people at all levels, well-developed sense of fairness, logical reasoning, good presentation and communication skills
  • Strong team working skills

  • Able to work to deadlines and prioritise
  • Keen to develop and learn about the construction industry
  • Successfully balancing working and studying with high levels of self-motivation and commitment is required
  • Flexible approach as the position mightrequire the candidate to work at various locations throughout the South and living away from home may be required

  • 128 UCAS points
  • A Level BBBorBTEC National Diploma - DDMorAccess to HE qualifications with 24 Distinctions 21 Merits
  • Plus English and maths GCSE (C/4 or above), or equivalent

Things to consider

CPD training will be given and support with your APC, leading to membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. We have an RICS licenced assessor in house who will assist with your APC preparation, if required.
