The apprentice quality engineer will have the opportunity through training and mentoring to become an integral part of the Quality team, helping the business to create a quality culture and deliver good quality products to Pegler's customers.

Job duties will include:
  • Getting involved in quality improvement projects
  • Learning how to use metrology and functional test equipment
  • Discovering sample measurement - Measuring to assess conformance to drawing/specification
  • Working with external approval / testing bodies to ensure that products comply with the relevant standards
  • Supplier quality development, including ensuring effective resolution of supplier quality issues
  • Arranging samples and building assemblies for product approval testing
  • Assessing process risk and facilitating the implementation of effective countermeasures
  • Learning about management of non-conformance including facilitating appropriate containment and corrective actions; disposition of quarantined products; determining rework activity; return to supplier activities; leading root cause analysis investigations into defects/failures and customer complaints
  • Discovering the standards for product quality
  • Auditing of product and processes
  • Analysis of process input and output data, learning statistical methods including capability studies & SPC
  • Training on non-conformance analysis & reporting - providing analysis of customer, supplier and internal non-conformance
  • Creating and implementing visual management for standards, quality metrics, quality alerts etc.
  • Accepting responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and others
