We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will be enrolled with a local education provider and will be required to complete your Level 2 in Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship Programme within the duration of the placement.

This exciting post will allow the successful candidate to gain experience and knowledge in a wide range of activities. The post will be split between two areas: In the Diabetes and Endocrinology Department the post holder will assist with our Weight Management Service, providing admin support and data collection and entry, and may be needed to assist our Diabetes Reception team; in our Medical Outpatients Department the post holder will provide a reception and administration service, coming into regular contact with patients and clinical staff. The post holder will be expected to work with all members of the multi-disciplinary team (nurses, dietitians, psychologists and consultants).

The Endocrinology & Diabetes dept. is based on level 3 in the East Outpatients block. We are a dynamic area that is expanding to meet popular demand. The department supports a full range of specialist and general clinical services.

The Medical outpatient team is based on level 3 in the East Outpatient block of the hospital. We have a compliment of nursing and admin staff. The department is very busy collecting and preparing medical notes and running Gastroenterology, Nephrology and Endocrinology clinics, and has several clinics running at any one time.

In both areas the post holder will be expected to contribute to the provision of the highest standards of patient care.

As post holder you will:

- Provide high quality administration and reception support to the Endocrinology & Diabetes department and Medical Outpatients department.

- Handle patient notes and information on a daily basis so you will be expected to have a high level of confidentiality. You may be asked to take and collect patient notes across the hospital site.

- Need good data entry and IT skills.

- Be able to prioritise your workload and work on the departmental database systems. You will work closely with the Weight Management team to complete admin tasks and update our Weight Management database, Prohealth.

You will split your week between the two areas (which are located on the same floor of the hospital). You will have a pre-agreed schedule to assist you with managing your time. You will report principally to the Endocrinology & Diabetes Administration Manager but when in Medical Outpatients will be answerable to the Medical Outpatients Assistant Administration Manager.
