Babcock Defence Systems Technology (DST) deliver industry leading engineering and technology services through the customer lifecycle from design and build through to in-service support to our Navy platforms whilst at sea. Integral to our success has been our Project Management Office (PMO) which works across functions to deliver projects on time and within budget.
As an APM apprentice you will become an important part of our PMO team working on a diverse range of projects where your output can make a real difference.
Your typical daily activities will include:
During your apprenticeship you will work in the following areas of the business:
Each placement will last six months, and you will be based in the Bristol area at either our Ashton House site or at Bristol Business Park in Filton.
You will attend collegewhen studying towards your Project Foundation Qualification (PFQ) and Associate Project Manager Qualification (APMQ).
Your technical training will be supplemented with in-house training courses and soft skill training to help you develop your personal and team working skills. You will also be supported by a mentor and in your first year by a buddy who will be an APM/Project Assistant working within the business.

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades C/4 or above (or equivalent) which includesGCSEs at grades B/6 or above(or equivalent) in maths and English.
3 A Levels at grade B or above or an equivalent Level 3 qualification e.g. BTEC at Merit or Distinction.
Future prospects
The aim of the apprenticeship is to prepare you for a permanent project management role working as an APM within Defence Systems Technology. We are also committed to supporting further development of our ex-apprentices through further education and technical training.

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).

- Defining work packages
- Reconciling and analysing data into useful information
- Developing communication plans and producing reports on delivery, cost and quality
