What will the apprentice be doing?

We do not believe in a 'One Size Fits All' approach to learning. With this in mind, we focus on individuals, designing a pathway personalised to specific needs and circumstances. An initial self-audit, linked to the Teachers' Standards, will inform a tailored programme designed to develop skills and abilities. Apprentices will be supported to systematically develop a pedagogical toolkit based on a deep knowledge and understanding of how children learn. Highly skilled professional mentors will offer support throughout the Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship, helping apprentices to understand the theory of teaching and learning. Progress will be assessed in a variety of ways, all of which will support your development as a reflective practitioner and outstanding teacher.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You'll receive a combination of classroom teaching and off-the-job training as you to work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

In addition to working towards QTS on successful completion of the course, apprentices will also complete an end point assessment (EPA) after the summer to consolidate learning from initial teacher training.

We are looking for people who have the determination to succeed, a commitment to working hard and the ability to work with others. TYou will be able to show enthusiasm and demonstrate a strong desire to work with children and make a difference in their lives.

The number of training sessions throughout the year will be approximately 30 days and these will mainly take place on Thursdays at our providers training centre in Wigan.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Teaching Apprenticeships offer new opportunities for career progression and once qualified apprenticeship can enjoy a career in teaching.

As part of the Department's Recruitment and Retention Strategy in 2019, the DfE published the Early Career Framework (ECF). This sets out what you should learn about and learn how to do early in your career, to help you thrive in your first few years.
