Post:Specialist (Band 6) Occupational Therapist

Base:Cygnet Brighouse

Responsible for:The OT team (Part time Band 5, OT Assistant & Activity Co-ordinators).

Responsible to:Regional Lead OT (Band 7) and Hospital Manager for line management.

Hours:40 hours per week

Overview of site/Ward:

Cygnet Brighouse is a 21 bed high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service for men who have severe and enduring mental illness and who may have been detained under the Mental Health Act. The people we support come to us following multiple placement breakdowns, failed treatment programmes or stepping down from secure settings.

Our well established service has been designed with wellness in mind, providing a safe and comfortable environment that promotes efficient rehabilitation and recovery. We are dedicated to understand, stabilise and break the traumatic cycles of relapse that can impact service users' lives.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care which will encompass OT assessments, treatment and management of patients within the service.

In this role you will assess, implement and develop an OT treatment programme according to service user's diagnosis and identified needs. This will be based upon findings from assessments including associated risks, in order to develop treatment plans accordingly.

  • The Successful Candidate should be/have:
    • A registered Occupational Therapist with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council)
    • Experienced in the field of adult mental health
    • Working as a Band 5 or Band 6 OT
    • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a "hands on" approach
    • Able to effectively lead a team
    • Excellent communication and time management skills
    • Passionate about student education

    Requirements
    The successful candidate will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check and an offer of employment will be subject to successful clearance.
