Leeds Health and Care Academy is a groundbreaking collaboration of Leeds health, care and university partners to create a single, joined up approach for innovative learning and development for all staff across health and care in the city.

The innovative model for the Leeds Health and Care Academy was developed by the city in recognition that a step change was needed to tackle the workforce challenges we see nationally and in Leeds and maximise all the opportunities a joined-up approach could bring with it.

The Academy is an integral part of the city's workforce pipeline and continuous development of knowledge, skills and culture. Its portfolio is designed to deliver 'system-based, transformational learning' which actively progresses the Leeds Workforce Priorities. In practice, this includes shaping new educational pathways such as T-Levels and Apprenticeships, developing critical workforce skills such as leadership and digital capabilities, and supporting mobility and career progression across organisational boundaries. Our delivery model is based around four pillars:

  • Co-design and co-deliver bespoke Leeds educational and development programmes
  • Coordinate and procure shared learning and development on behalf of the city
  • Build capacity and capability for Organisational Development and change at system-level
  • Advance digital, data, informatics and business intelligence within the workforce

However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the current Resident Labour Market Test which will be in place until the end of December 2020.
