An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join a forward thinking department as a Principal Clinical Technologist within Medical Physics Technical Services at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital's Cancer Centre.

The department has six linear accelerators, including five Elekta VersaHD units, two Accuray Tomotherapy machines, a CyberKnife and a superficial x-ray machine. There is an ongoing replacement program for our Linacs and our latest Elekta VersaHD is soon to become clinical.

The successful candidate will be part of a highly specialised team repairing and maintaining our linear accelerators and other equipment and also be the lead engineer within the electronic workshop.

This role is ideal for an experienced and highly motivated radiotherapy service engineer who is looking for the next step in their career. The candidate should have experience in the healthcare or other industries that deal with highly complex electronics and stringent safety regulations.

The candidate will have a degree in engineering or equivalent experience and will also have significant practical experience and highly specialist expertise of clinical technology across a range of work procedures relating to radiotherapy technologies.

Extensive specialist knowledge of electronic and mechanical engineering practice (analogue, digital and power electronic components, devices, systems and design, and electro-mechanical systems) and the ability to deploy innovative skills to develop work procedures is also required.

Eligibility to join the Register of Clinical Technologists is essential.

Ideally, the candidate will also have experience of engineering training and supervision as the appointee will also provide supervision and training of engineering staff and apprentices.

The successful candidate will have an excellent and demonstrable track record of supervision, training and teaching of other staff, and will be organised, self-motivated and possess excellent fault finding and communication skills.
