To provide a safe and stable environment to the young people in our care, to promote the rights as individuals and provide them with a high standard of quality care in accordance with the companies policies and procedures.

Senior staff members will support the deputy and registered manager with all aspects of the day to day running of the home.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Safeguarding the young people in all aspects of their daily lives
  • Physical / Emotional / Social needs of the young people
  • Encourage development of individuals interests and behaviours
  • To promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of each young person
  • Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships
  • Provide firm, consistent and fair behaviours in respect of their behaviour
  • Work in a restorative manner
  • Promote the development of healthy living
  • Encourage development of a positive social network
  • To replicate a family home, cooking, cleaning and maintaining the home
  • To participate in activities and holidays
  • To record the observations in the home, including updating and reviewing risk assessments, care plans, incident reports and monthly reports
  • To attend all medical, education and placement planning meetings where necessary
  • To support when appropriate family contact

We require you to work as part of a team to provide consistent care for our young people. We appreciate staff will have different backgrounds and life experiences, but all staff must work to the decisions of the team.
  • Staff to attend team meetings regularly and we encourage participation and involvement of the whole team
  • Staff to be professional both within and outside the work environment
  • Staff to communicate regularly with all professional agencies and significant others
  • Staff to attend and participate in their supervisions, supervision will be arranged within your working day, every 4- 6 weeks, we expect honesty and openness with your supervision
  • Staff to attend training as part of their own development
  • Staff to undertake sleep in duties
  • To provide factual reports and recordings
  • To receive complaints and compliments in accordance to the policies and procedures of Stones Care Ltd
  • To undertake financial management of their shift and complete petty cash records on a daily and weekly basis
  • To carry out duties in accordance to Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • To carry out all duties and responsibilities in accordance of the company's policies and procedures
  • To accommodate any altering shift patterns
  • To work bank holidays including Christmas day, Boxing day and New Year

Essential Job Requirements
  • Ability to lead staff teams to provide a high level of care
  • Provide a safe environment for the young people in our care
  • Ensure your record keeping, administrative duties are met including care plans and all relevant paperwork is updated and additionally ensure the employees record keeping is updated
  • 2 years experience of leading or managing staff in a residential childcare setting
  • Up to date knowledge of the current legislation governing the sector

Desirable Attributes
  • Experience of Ofsted inspections
  • Understanding of attachment and trauma in relation to young people
  • Experience of professionals meetings and working contributively with the professional network

  • Be flexible and able to undertake shift work including weekends and sleep-ins


Desired qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence and a car available for work use due to the nature of the role
  • Diploma Level 3 in Children and Young Persons Workforce, or equivalent


Future prospects

Future progression or permanent employment will be considered upon successful completion of the apprenticeship.
