Band 5 Staff Nurse

"Helping Yorkshire Breathe"

Come and join our team in Leeds and become part of 'The Leeds Way' sharing our vision and values. Our Trust is recognised for our staff engagement, great care and rated GOOD by the Care Quality Commission.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest acute health providers in the UK and based in one of the fastest growing and vibrant cities in the north.

We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic and committed to the provision of excellence in respiratory nursing care and who would like to develop their skills and knowledge in this field.

We can offer you a preceptorship programme to develop your nursing practice and clinical skills such as chest drain management, indwelling pleural catheters and oxygen therapy. You will gain experience on how to support your patient through episodes of hypoxia and breathlessness, end of life discussions and palliative care.

The needs of this group of patients are often diverse. You will be able to demonstrate how a chronic illness can impact on a person's life and understand some of the challenges this may bring.

Please note J29 is currently a hot ward.

For all new starters to the Trust we have a structured Introduction to Professional Practice (IPP) Induction programme to prepare you for working at LTHT. We also have a 6 month preceptorship framework to support you in your new role, which incorporates further education sessions and support forums.

We are very interested in hearing from you, including those of you who are students expecting to graduate in the next nine months.

For further information please contact James Green - [email protected]

Please note your interview will take place virtually in line with COVID-19 Trust guidelines.

Internal nursing staff currently employed by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, who wish to work in a different area, at the same AfC Band, job description and person specification should contact their Matron and employ the internal transfer process.

This vacancy may close before the advertised closing date if sufficient suitable applications are received.

Our goal is to be the best place to work, to achieve this we engage with and listen to our staff, to understand their needs. We are proud to support all individuals to work flexibly so they can maintain a good work life balance and provide support as a carer or parent. We value our diverse staff and are committed to equal opportunities and welcome applications from all sections of the community, regardless of any protected characteristics. Reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled applicants where required and to support staff who require adjustments to ensure they can work safely during the Covid-19 pandemic.

If you are offered a position, you may be required to undertake a DBS. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £48 or Standard £30) from your salary over a 3 month period (including Internal staff). You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £13 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment. DBS checks for volunteers are free.

Please ensure your application is submitted with referees who can verify your employment/education history over the last three years and include valid email addresses for them. LTHT will request electronic Factual Employment References from your previous employers. These references will be requested before you are issued with an unconditional offer of employment letter.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require current Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the current Resident Labour Market Test which will be in place until the end of December 2020. UK Visas and Immigration requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, have had to present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) are also subject to this requirement.
