What will the apprentice be doing?
Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) are registered healthcare professionals specialising in caring for people of all ages before, during and after surgery, mainly in the theatre complex. ODPs have expertise in the management and maintenance of a patient safe environment within the operating department. In doing this they utilise highly specialist skills, equipment and materials to deliver a high standard of patient care.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will be exposed to clinical practice where you will gain experience across a variety of specialist areas. 50% of the training is delivered within the practice environment where you will work alongside experienced clinical staff to gain maximum exposure to learning.
