Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit caring and passionate people as trainee Healthcare Support Workers to work with our teams in the community.

These apprenticeship (trainee) opportunities start on Band 2 but are guaranteed to move to a Band 3 SHCSW role once they have completed Level 3 Apprenticeship training. The role is a great way for obtaining a nationally recognised Health and Social Care qualification whilst earning a salary. No experience is required as

full training will be given.

Trainee Healthcare Support Workers will work with Healthcare Practitioner's such as a nurse, dietician or occupational therapist and will help to provide support across a range of needs and age groups including children, older people and people living with frailty or chronic conditions.

Typically, they may be involved in...
  • Helping to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care with supervision
  • Identifying and reporting changes in patient care needs or changesin physical or emotional well-being
  • Helping the patient understand what their treatment and care plan may involve and require
  • Carrying out health promotion or health education work
  • Supporting individuals to understand and take their medication
  • Monitoring patients' conditions by doing things like taking temperatures, pulse, respirations and weight (with training)
  • Supporting individuals with their daily activities such as personal hygiene and nutrition

The Trust has taken the decision to recharge successful candidates for the cost of their DBS disclosure. This post requires a(n) Enhanced / Standard DBS disclosure. The current price of this is £48.43/£30.43. The Trust will pay the initial costs, which will be recovered, in installments, from your first three salary payments.
