North Middlesex University Hospital is one of London's busiest acute hospitals, serving more than 350,000 people living in Enfield and Haringey and the surrounding areas, including Barnet and Waltham Forest.

We are an integrated provider with a full range of adult, elderly and children's services across medical and surgical disciplines including community 0-19 yr old services in Enfield. Our specialist services include stroke, HIV/AIDS, cardiology, haematology, diabetes, fertility and orthopaedics. Our sickle cell and thalassaemia department is nationally recognised as a leading centre for these diseases. Every day, on average, we see 500 patients in A&E; 15 babies are born in our maternity unit; about 450 inpatients are cared for on our wards; about 50 patients have major or minor surgery in one of our 10 operating theatres; and about 800 people attend our outpatients clinics.

At North Middlesex University Hospital, you'll find a team that truly believes in living our values in everything we do. We are caring, we are fair and we are open.

Applications are invited for the position of Consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine at the North Middlesex University Hospital, a busy and ambitious hospital with full Care Quality Commission registration.

North Middlesex University Hospital is a medium sized District General Hospital based in Edmonton, North London. We serve a diverse multicultural population largely from the London boroughs of Enfield and Haringey.

Many of our patients live in wards that are within the 5% most deprived in the UK and a large proportion of our patients were born abroad. This makes it both a fascinating and a challenging hospital to work in.

Over the last decade we have rebuilt almost all of the hospital and now have facilities that we are proud to work in. We employ just over 3,000 staff, more than half of whom live locally. We encourage apprenticeships from the local community and work closely with our local Health Watch.

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated Consultant to join our friendly and enthusiastic Respiratory, and General Medicine teams.

This is an opportunity to join a highly motivated respiratory team, comprising of seven substantive consultants, supported by a multidisciplinary specialist team including nursing, physiology, and support staff, providing a comprehensive service for inpatients and outpatients.

Respiratory services and investigative facilities include; flexible bronchoscopy, EBUS, pulmonary function Laboratory, CPET, multichannel sleep studies and operation of a "fast track" straight to CT service for lung cancer.
