Morrisons are unique in the way we source and make most of our fresh food ourselves. Our different manufacturing capabilities make us stand out in the world of retail. You can play a key role in working in the heart of your community with our Food Technology Degree Apprenticeship.
Now you don’t have to choose between starting your career or studying towards a degree. At Morrisons, we are giving hard-working school and college leavers the chance to have the best of both worlds.
Our Food Technology Degree Apprenticeship, delivered in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University, allows you to work towards a degree while building a career with one of the best technical teams around. Not only do we pay all your course fees for you, but you also get to work and earn a £19,500 starting salary while you’re studying.
What you’ll be doing
Our Food Technology function is accountable for Food Safety, Food
Quality and Legality in Morrisons manufacturing sites. Roles in Technology
are varied, covering all aspects of food production and compliance. As
Morrisons has a number of different food manufacturing sites the work
can be across several different food categories from produce to
bread and meat & fish.
You’ll learn about different manufacturing equipment, processes and technologies (including how production lines run) and provide support at our Flowerworld manufacturing site at peak trading times for Valentines and Mother’s Day.
You’ll also gain experience with the site Technical Systems Manager learning about
product specifications, writing procedures and developing existing systems.
Achieve a valuable degree and the start of a great career
We’re confident you’ll find working at Morrisons rewarding, our team spirit is hard to beat! We celebrate individuals and their achievements, it’s all about getting stuck in, learning tons, and bringing what makes you special to make us better.
While you’re working with us, you’ll also be studying towards a BSc (Hons) Professional Practice in Food Technology at Sheffield Hallam University. Balancing work and a degree course will be challenging. But we’ll offer you at least half a day leave a week to concentrate on your university studies. And, in return for your hard work and determination, you’ll have the experience you need to step into a manager role within one of our Food Technical teams at the end of the programme.
What you’ll need to join us
We’re looking for resilience, determination and good leadership skills, along with the flexibility to meet the changing needs of our business. You’ll also need a minimum of 96 UCAS points and Grade C (4) or more in Maths and English GCSEs. An A-level in food technology or a science-based subject is desirable.
