What you’ll be doing

We’re one of the world’s leading communications services company. The services we sell are integral to modern life and delivered over our networks. Our Apprentice Network Engineers play a key part to ensure that our networks are designed, tested, built and maintained with fresh, new, innovative ideas in mind.

We’ll get you working on real projects from day one, learning the skills and experience you’ll need right away on the job. You’ll get involved in things like testing the latest networking technology, upgrading the existing network and the planning, installing and running of network elements. And don’t forget, we don’t just do broadband and landlines, we do mobile networks too. You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the technology that underpins what we do, playing a part in supporting and maintaining high levels of stability and performance of the biggest and best mobile network in the UK.

You’ll also learn how to design, build, test configure and optimise a distributed network, as well as how to analyse network performance and troubleshoot typical problems in networks. We’ll teach you how to identify and evaluate network security risks, and how to incorporate this into your network designs to ensure our network is secure, resilient and dependable.

About the apprenticeship you’ll study for

As a Degree Apprentice Network Engineer, you’ll study for a Level 6 apprenticeship in Digital & Technology Solutions. This is an apprenticeship degree course, meaning if you complete the course successfully, you’ll receive a degree from one of our university partners.

  • The degree course runs for four years and is a work-based learning degree.
  • You’ll spend a minimum of 20% of your time learning and studying.
  • At the start of each module you’ll need to attend a module workshop, either in person or remotely, depending on the situation at that time.

Entry requirements

You’ll need to achieve (or be on course to achieve) three A-Levels with a minimum of BBC grades. You’ll also need a minimum of five GCSEs at grades 4-9 (C or above) including English and Maths. Equivalent qualifications are accepted.
