Our Q6 framework spans from airfield works (taxiways, runways, stands), to civils (roads, demolition works, underground and above ground structures), and MEP packages (services tunnels, lifts, life safety systems, fuel/fire mains).

The scheme offers countless opportunities across the construction industry and all apprentices are fully supported by a dedicated Apprenticeship Programme Manager to help integrate apprentices into the team and ensure they are developing within their roles.

The role.

The BIM Modeller Apprentice will work as part of the BIM team at Heathrow Q6. You will work under the supervision of the Project Information Manager to develop BIM 3D models of design works from 2D designs sent in by Consultants and Subcontractors. Further responsibilities include assisting with the development of temporary works BIM 3D models to ensure that they are aligned with our logistics plans and updating models with any work changes. You will support survey, logistic and construction work by assisting with the development of CAD (AutoCAD - Civil 3D) models.

You will complete a BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology (Design and Construction Management) Degree Apprenticeship whilst working at Ferrovial Construction. Full training will be provided. This is an exciting opportunity to use new technologies, tools and software in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the achievement of Health and Safety in accordance with company policy
  • Assist with the design coordination
  • Review BIM models sent in by Consultants and Subcontractors for design and construction works
  • Assist with the development of temporary works 3D BIM models
  • Assist with Works coordination reports
  • Assist with the development of CAD models
  • Assist with the development of BIM 3D models - design works and construction works
  • To liaise with the Project Information Manager and Design Manager to develop fully compliant BIM models
  • Communicate with the site team by assisting with the creation of BIM 3D models, visualisations, presentations and videos
  • Assist in coordinating meetings between the BIM team and Clients, interfacing projects, Consultants and Subcontractors
  • To promote high quality engineering throughout the project

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Knowledge of BIM/CAD related software (Revit, Civils 3D, Navisworks) is desirable
  • Working in the construction industry and possessing a CSCS card is desirable
  • Motivated to learn and add value to the team, the role and the apprenticeship programme

Desired qualifications

Entry requirements
In order to be considered for entry to the course applicants will be required to have the following qualifications.
  • HNC in related subject with merit grade or
  • Level 4 Apprenticeship in relevant subject or equivalent level 4 qualification
  • Applicants must hold 5 GCSEs A*-C / 9-4 including mathsand English or equivalent
