Attention all Healthcare Assistants/Assistant Practitioners/Nursing Associates: Are you ready to progress and develop?

We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity for current Healthcare Assistants/Assistant Practitioners/ Nursing Associates to develop their skills and train to be a Registered Nurse with the Open University.

Applications are invited from
  • Healthcare Assistants/Assistant Practitioners/Nursing Associates who work for NCIC with at least 12 months experience or minimum 500 hours working for NCIC within the last year.
  • Assistant Practitioners/Nursing Associates with a foundation degree gained within the last 5 years.

Applicants MUST possess GCSE Maths and English Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent functional skills level 2 and the certificates to evidence this along with the Care Certificate. You will be required to bring these to interview.

You must be able to work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week and be willing to work across North Cumbria for placements. This apprenticeship will commence in September 2021 and will last 3 years, on a secondment from your existing post. You must have the support of your current manager as you will be required to undertake placements outside your own ward/department. You will be paid Annex 21 of a Band 5 which is 65% of the top of the pay band 5 in year 1, 70% in year 2 and 75% in year 3. Your current hourly rate will be protected if higher than Annex 21.

Annual leave will need to be planned and allocated around University modules and placements as dates are compulsory.

Successful candidates will be bonded to work within North Cumbria Integrated Care Foundation NHS Trust for at least two years post qualification.

The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:

Standard Check: £26 + Administration cost of £4.20 = deducted at £10.20 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 2 months.

Enhanced Check: £44 + administration cost of £4.20 = £15.20 deducted from 1st month salary and £11 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
