Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust was formed in October 2019, following the merger of 2gether NHS Foundation Trust and Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust. The two Trusts joined together to provide integrated mental health, physical health and learning disability services to communities.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health Care Assistant to join our dedicated team of Theatre Practitioners. You will play an important part in creating a great experience for our patients undergoing day surgery. Putting their care first, you will have more time caring for them as individual people, not just as patients. Previous experience as a Theatre Health care assistant is desirable however full training and support is available for the right candidate.

As a highly motivated individual, you will be used to working in a fast-paced environment, in a place that is constantly and rapidly changing. With lots of empathy for people, you'll find the challenges of theatre work fascinating. The opportunity would suit those who are hardworking and enthusiastic. Playing a valuable role within the team, you will also have excellent communication skills, passion and a flexible approach to your everyday work. The role will involve working closely with qualified theatre practitioners to deliver the highest standard of care to patients throughout their peri-operative journey. Some of your main duties will include - assisting qualified staff in the planning & delivery of patient care, preparing the operating theatre for each operation, preparing equipment prior to each operating list and moving and handling of patients whilst at their most vulnerable.

Please note that the hours for this role are 37.5 per week.

As a Health Care Assistant/ Support Worker you will be responsible for participating and assisting in the delivery of care / services to patients and service users as part of a Health Service. Health Care Assistant, Social Care Workers and other Healthcare Support Workers employed by the Trust are required to follow the guidance set out in Code of Conduct for Health Care Assistants/ Health Care Support Workers to provide safe and compassionate care of a high standard, and to challenge others who are not. You will receive direct supervision and partake in reflective practice / training on a regular basis and be required to meet the Care Certificate standards.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to discuss the prospect of undertaking a Level 3 Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship alongside their substantive post, this apprenticeship would include the Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare.

This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory training and post holders must be able to undertake physical interventions. Fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health.
