We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced ACP to lead our excellent Emergency Medicine ACP team. Lead EM ACP is a new post and we are looking for an exceptional candidate to drive our fantastic advanced practice team forward within the ED, and to support advanced practice development and growth in the wider Trust. Our ACP team is a highly valued part of our wider clinical workforce and is essential to the smooth and sustainable running of our ED. With a solid foundation established and a growing team of qualified and trainee ACPs from a variety of clinical backgrounds, we are now seeking to recruit a full-time lead ACP to provide leadership, direction and support as well as continuing to grow and develop the service within the wider EM team.

The Lead ACP post will report directly to senior nursing leadership and work collaboratively with the Corporate ACP Lead. This is a fantastic chance to shape advanced practice in ED and across the Trust and to be part of the evolution of emergency care here in Plymouth as we commence a major rebuild project including the ED and embrace the opportunity to reimagine our 'front door' processes. The key elements of this post include the following:

The post holder will be a clinical expert within the field of advanced practice in the Emergency Department. It is essential they are an experienced EM ACP, who can work as a Tier 3 clinician within all areas of the Emergency Department. It is expected that the post holder will be able to perform all extended clinical skills to a high level and be a passionate and skilled teacher in order to educate the team.

The post holder will have managerial responsibility for the team of Qualified and Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners, overseeing the development of trainees and the progression of the team as a whole. The Lead ACP will have achieved RCEM credentialing status or be working towards this within six months of appointment. They will support all team members to enable them to credential through the Royal College of Emergency Medicine.

The post holder will have some knowledge of university processes and apprenticeship pathways in order to navigate the team throughout training and education. The post holder will work autonomously and work closely with the Emergency Medicine Consultants and other medical staffing to explore the development of these roles. This will include the formulation of policies and protocols to support role advancement in line with service needs.

The post holder will help plan, organise and participate in the teaching, training and supervision of the team of ACPs as well as acting as a mentor/assessor to a variety of health care professional staff gaining competencies in this varied speciality. The post holder will be expected to provide clinical advice and support to and liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team. The role will include the oversight of rota creation and management.

The post holder is required to practice as an ACP in conjunction with service line requirements and activity and support workforce redesign across all clinical professions.
