Full Time; 37.50 hours per week ( variable Monday to Friday until 8pm with alternate weekends each month)

Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated 'Outstanding' in the Responsiveness domain, the Forensic Occupational Therapy team has been cited for their good practice in leading an 'Exceptional' Seven Day Therapies Programme, Smoke Free Strategy, Wellbeing Strategy, Food Strategy and introduction of the Forensic Recovery College (April 2017).

Due to an internal promotion the Forensic Directorate are seeking a highly skilled Band 7 Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist in the Low Secure Service at Memorial Hospital:
  • To be responsible for a complex clinical caseload using evidence based practice to assess, treat and evaluate interventions
  • Provide clinical leadership for an Occupational Therapy team across two low secure units
  • Actively support the ongoing development of the Band 4 Occupational Therapy Apprenticeships, Rotational Band 5 Occupational Therapists, Allied Health Professionals Preceptorship Programme and the Occupational Therapy Clinical Placement Expansion Project
  • Play a crucial role with the multi-professional team in shaping service provision with a new seclusion facility on one of the low secure units
  • Develop and sustain partnerships with third sector organisations to enhance the recovery pathway of service users as they progress from an inpatient setting into the community by instilling hope and having a genuine impact on their quality of life

This Band 7 Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapy post provides an ideal opportunity to develop clinical leadership and advance career progression as part of the South London Partnership Specialist Forensic Programme which was established five years ago as a NHS England New Model of Care to improve patient care, experience and clinical outcomes by bringing together three South London NHS Trusts.

Support, supervision and training will be provided by the award-winning Forensic Occupational Therapy team.
