This position offers candidates to opportunity to learn on the job, gain a recognised qualification and the opportunity to progress on to a degree course upon completion.

VINCI Construction UK, design and build projects, such as student accommodation, hospitals, car parks, retail developments, schools, commercial buildings - we specialise in large construction projects.

Joining our team will mean working on our sites in and around the Birmingham area.

You will spend time in our different departments, such as:
  • Site engineering
  • Construction management
  • Design
  • Planning
  • Pre-construction

You will learn how we procure work, design, plan, and construct buildings for our clients. Once you have completed the departmental rotations you will choose your preferred career pathway and work towards technical and professional qualifications, in that area.

Candidates must have a flexible approach and be willing to work on projects throughout the Midlands Region (Note allowances are payable where applicable to make this affordable to the candidates).

As well as learning on the job, you will be required to attend College on a day release basis. The two year course will provide you with a Level 4 Construction Site Supervisor Apprenticeship, including an HNC in construction and the built environment. In addition to the qualifications the programme will enable candidates to progress in terms of level of responsibility, interpersonal skills, leadership, commercial awareness and technical engineering knowledge.

This apprenticeship offers an interesting and progressive career in construction & site engineering which can ultimately lead to full membership of the relevant professional institutions.

This opportunity could be an attractive alternative to a traditional university career path, with no student debt and regular wage.

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • You will need to be able to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from tradesmen to clients and upper management and you will need to content with speaking in phone calls and online meetings

Desired qualifications

  • GCSE or equivalents in maths grade: 5 or above
  • GCSE or equivalents in English grade: 5 or above
  • Any others: A levels or a Level 3 qualification (in construction or engineering)

Future prospects

Progression onto a degree apprenticeship (the level 4 qualification will enable candidates to hop on to the 3rd year (of 5) of a relevant degree course.Opportunity to progress with Professional memberships such MCIOB.

Things to consider

You must have a flexible approach and ability to adapt to different situations, keen to learn and willingness to take on responsibility.

Demonstrates a good level of maturity, construction sites can be dangerous places and safety is a priority.

Studying and working at the same time is very rewarding, but also requires self-discipline and hard work, to meet the requirements of the job whilst gaining a qualification.
