What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Business Support Apprentice to support key functions within our organisation, including our Administration and Security teams, contributing to business improvement initiatives. You will acquire a diverse range of skills, gaining insight into different business areas and liaising with internal and external stakeholders in line with our company vision, mission and goals.

As an apprentice, as well as studying for your qualification, you will receive quality on the job training from our experienced members of staff who will coach and develop your skills.

This will be a 2-3 years apprenticeship studying for a BTEC Diploma in Business Administration (Level 2 or 3).

What will the role entail?

  • Administration support to all four of our buildings – arranging meetings, copying, scanning, filing and coordination of large company events.
  • Assisting our Travel Team - booking travel, accommodation and VISAs for our staff. Liaising with our finance team on travel expenses, making cost savings where possible. Visiting potential venues throughout the UK.
  • Covering Reception – taking calls, meeting visitors, assisting new employees and ordering stationary.
  • Supporting our Security Team – working on our IT systems with our sensitive data using tools to ensure we are protected from intrusion and threats. Identifying security breaches and following protocols to escalate to the specialist teams. Providing support to our personnel security team in regards to security clearances and travel requests of staff. Processing requests for external visitors, ensuring compliance with our security policies.

What skills will I need to be successful?

  • Have a professional, friendly and reliable approach to your work with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Know how to plan and prioritise work to meet team objectives and deadlines
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyse problems and effective problem solving
  • Be enthusiastic, willing to learn with good attention to detail and organisation skills.
  • High standard of computer literacy including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Flexibility to adapt to a changing environment throughout the working week

'Cerebrum' is the TRL Technology future talent programme that launched in 2016 to support our apprentices, industrial placements, sponsored students and graduates.
