We've been rated 'good' overall by the CQC, with some outstanding services. The CQC commented at our most recent inspection on how our colleagues "treated patients with compassion and kindness" and "felt positive and proud about working for the trust."

Equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of Derbyshire Healthcare and our Chief Executive, Ifti Majid, is a national advocate on these issues. We are actively seeking to increase diversity in our workforce through our recruitment activities. Selection will be on the basis of merit and we are committed to the principles of positive action, to address any imbalances of opportunity.

We are committed to ensuring that all Trust colleagues can work safely during the current Coronavirus crisis. As part of this, the Trust is reviewing job roles in relation to COVID-19 national guidance, in terms of home working, flexibility and safe practice, to ensure positive working environments for staff and the best quality services for patients. Please note that this post may be subject to adjustments in line with COVID-19 national guidance.

We are taking an innovative approach in our adult acute inpatient services. In response to our service users' needs and the demand for access to therapy across the 7 day period, we have increased our Occupational Therapy posts to be able to support this new way of working.

As Occupational Therapists we are positioned to shape the culture of inpatient settings to promote a therapeutic day, enhancing the therapeutic environment and ensuring a recovery-focussed approach.

This post will sit within the ward MDT team with support and access to a wider OT team and professional network within acute services.

Within the role you will need to have the ability to work independently to develop and deliver a clear OT service on the ward for patients in the acute phase of mental illness. You will need to show initiative, drive and ability to think creatively for solutions.

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist, who has an interest in providing care to adults in the acute setting .

Ward 34 is a 20-bedded ward for adult males only.

The service users we care for often have complex mental health needs, and at times may display challenging behaviour. Therefore, the post holder will be required to be a dynamic clinician and demonstrate a range of skills, including effective communication, empathy, self-awareness, and critical self-reflection skills.

You will be responsible for providing OT assessments and interventions, both individually and in groups.

You will work closely with the nursing team, Hub OT staff and recreation team to provide a therapeutic programme that supports the use of activity and recovery.

Within this role you will also be required to undertake shared tasks that will support the functioning of the wider team and maximise service-user engagement.

There are opportunities to develop more general mental health skills such as risk assessment and safety planning.

As our OTs are fully integrated members of the ward teams, you will need to be flexible and prepared to work an early and/or late shift pattern (including weekends).

The Trust offers a preceptorship programme for newly qualified professionals.

Occupational Therapists are recognised as essential core members of the multi-disciplinary team, and are in the forefront of developing recovery and therapeutic interventions.

DHCFT can offer both personal and clinical development opportunities, in addition to regular professional and clinical supervision, Personal Development Plans, and support for Continual Professional Development activities.

We also offer a number of clinical and professional development opportunities through our clinical forums and internal professional networks and links with local universities.

Please note that evening and weekend interviews can be arranged on request.
