Are you an experienced nurse, midwife or HCPC professional who has a passion for quality improvement and supporting staff ? Do you have experience in risk management and patient safety incident investigations? Have you led on incident reviews and implemented change as a result? This is an exciting time of change with patient safety. We are looking for a highly organised, motivated and dynamic individual to lead on divisional quality and patient safety with a focus on Gynaecology.

We currently have 30 hours a week, permanent post available in our quality and patient safety team within the women's side of the women's and children's division. You would be a part of a small team of midwives, nurses and doctors whose responsibility it is to review all risks and incidents, undertake investigations, follow through on action plans and support quality improvement within the division.

The post holder will lead on the investigation of incidents and ensure they are investigated in a timely manner, ensuring that all learning is disseminated. The post holder will provide highly competent professional advice on the protection of patients, staff, and visitors to ensure patient safety remains a priority. They will be expected to work alongside staff to deliver a planned programme of improvement work to meet the healthcare governance agenda.

The post holder will provide leadership, guidance and expertise within the wider multi- professional team for Women's Services for clinical governance and risk management. This will include putting in place frameworks to ensure that the service meets the Trust standards for clinical governance.

They will act as a specialist in the field of risks within gynaecology and ensure that national recommendations are met from MBRRACE-UK; Mothers and babies: Reducing Risk through Audits and Confidential Enquiries across the UK (MBRRACE), National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE), Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), NHS England and Improvement and NHS Resolution guidance. The post holder will work with the Quality and Patient Safety Manager, Clinical Governance Lead Consultants, Matron for gynaecology, Practice Development Midwife and Health and Safety Advisors, to develop and implement an appropriate training programme for all groups of staff. As a senior post within the Division they will network with other internal and external colleagues and agencies as part of this role including where services are provided on different sites. We have a well established quality improvement programme which covers maternity, neonatal and gynaecology.

Our gynaecology ward has 22 inpatient beds offering surgical day surgery, care of patients with medical and surgical termination of pregnancy in addition to gynaecology medical inpatients, specialising in gynaecology oncology.

We treat all gynaecological problems and provide comprehensive, specialist services for the diagnosis, staging, treatment and hospital care of patients with cancer of the ovary, cervix, womb, vulva and some rare gynaecological cancers for women of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire

  • A one-stop shop multi-disciplinary tertiary vulvaL skin clinic
