About the role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen in North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust, for a Band 8A Clinical Psychologist to be part of a care pathway to provide intensive support and interventions to children, young people and families. The service will be based at The Darwin Centre, our tier 4 CAMHS inpatient unit, and provide support across community settings delivering intensive interventions, advice and support to young people and families in their own homes and helping them access the best possible care package to prevent or shorten length of inpatient admission.

You will be working alongside our highly experienced team of clinicians at the Darwin centre as well as work in close consultation with our well established CAMHS services. There will be opportunities to work with and receive training and supervision from our local Dialectical Behavioural Service for Adolescents (DBT-A). Established in 2014, the DBT-A service has grown to offer a range of services to adolescents with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties and their families. In addition to presenting papers at multiple national forums the service was recently nominated as a finalist in the ATP Awards for Excellence 2020.

The core MDT service will largely operate during office hours but would support staff operating out of hours through supervision, care planning and by offering direct access to evidence based interventions .

You will be required to deliver expert, time-limited psychological input, psychological advice to young people and families and offer teaching, guidance and supervision to multi-disciplinary team colleagues as required. You will deliver highly specialised interventions, requiring extensive psychological expertise for young people with complex mental health needs.

You will operate with support from the service managers and a Principal Clinical Psychologist, in parallel with other psychologists and therapists across the full service area. We are a supportive group of clinicians and we welcome applicants with a range of skills in psychological models.

About Us:

North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust was established in 1994 and provides mental health and learning disability care to people predominantly living in the city of Stoke-on-Trent and in North Staffordshire. The Trust is one of the main providers of mental health, social care and learning disability services in the West Midlands.

We currently work from both hospital and community-based premises, operating from approximately 30 sites to approximately 464,000 people of all ages and diverse backgrounds in Stoke-on-Trent and across North Staffordshire. Our main site is Harplands Hospital, which opened in 2001 and provides the setting for most of our inpatient units.

We provide services to people with a wide range of mental health and learning disability needs. Sometimes our service users need to spend time in hospital, but much more often we are able to provide care in community settings and in people's own homes.

We also provide specialist mental health services such as child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), substance misuse services and psychological therapies, plus a range of clinical and non-clinical services to support University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM).
