The commitment of our 17,100 staff is key to our success. We are one of the largest local employers and we aim to develop and support all our staff so they are able to deliver high quality, safe and efficient care. The 2018 NHS staff survey results show that we have one of the most engaged and motivated workforces in the NHS. We know this has a positive impact on the care provided to our patients.

Paediatric research at the Evelina London Children's Hospital is growing and developing. The paediatric clinical research team is expanding in size, scope and clinical facilities. This is an exciting time to join our team and make your mark on paediatric research and help shape its future.

The team supports over 70 studies across a diverse range of specialties; from phase one to phase four clinical trials, medical device evaluations, dietetic interventions and cohort studies and will have the opportunity to act in a lead nurse capacity with your own study portfolio. The team also offers it's skills and expertise on a regular basis to the set up and conduct of over 90 additional studies embedded within the wards and clinical services of Evelina London. These include The Centre for the Developing Brain, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), cardiology and theatres. These roles present the chance to work closely with the clinical teams while expanding your skills across a variety of studies and disciplines.

To support the expanding team and growing portfolio of studies, we have moved into two newly refurbished designated paediatric facilities embedded within the Evelina London Children's Hospital ; Wolf Clinical Research Facility (CRF) and Seal CRF.

Evelina London is the first children's hospital to be rated as outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The paediatric clinical research team continues to work to this level of excellence and all teams members will have the opportunity to contribute to this work.

We are currently looking to recruit a Band 6 Children's Clinical Research Nurse, on a fixed term basis, to join our dynamic and friendly team to support and lead on the delivery of high quality, holistic care to children and young people participating in research studies.

You will be joining a team which includes clinical research nurses, a clinical research educator, a clinical trial pharmacist, trial coordinators and administrators.

As a Children's Research Nurse you will play a key role in coordinating and delivering a portfolio of research studies including Level 1 Urgent Public Health COVID studies in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team. Working across commercial and non commercial studies, you will work with the wider multidisciplinary team including the Principal investigators and study sponsors to deliver a seamless pathway for patients participating in research trials/studies.

You will be responsible for the holistic nursing care of children / young people and their families on existing and new clinical trials and contribute to the assessment and management of care pathways for patients participating in clinical studies.

This will involve leading on study set up activities, screening, recruiting, educating and monitoring children and young people in studies as well the collation and documentation of study data. You will be trained to take informed consent for selected studies which do not involve a medicinal product. Previous research experience is desirable but not essential as a comprehensive training and development programme is available.

As a skilled communicator, the successful candidate, must also possess excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills and be able to act as an ambassador for promoting research utilisation and best practice.

There are excellent opportunities for further education, leadership and revalidation support within this role. We provide a comprehensive induction programme and opportunities for developing new research/clinical skills are available and actively encouraged. The normal working hours for the post is Monday - Friday 9am- 5pm although the post holder may need to be flexible to accomodate patient visits and assessments outside of these hours when required.
