We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and caring Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our CAMHS SLT team at Cygnet Bury and help grow other members of the team.

A little bit more about the services...

Cygnet Hospital Bury offers CAMHS Tier 4 PICU, general acute and low secure services across 4 wards which provide a defined treatment pathway from admission through to intervention and discharge, including rapid assessment and treatment. There is a diverse educational programme, teaching a range of subjects at the on-site school, Excel and Exceed Centre, which is registered with the Department for Education.

The 4 wards are:
  • Primrose Ward
  • Wizard House
  • Mulberry Ward
  • Buttercup Ward

The service focuses on working with young people to understand their mental health and their risks and support their recovery, enabling them to be successfully discharged to a less restrictive environment and to reduce the possibility of relapse and likelihood of requiring a secure service in the future. The Speech and Language Therapy Team provides embedded into to Acute and Low Secure services and consultative support to PICU settings.

About the job...
  • Alongside a small caseload for assessment, diagnosis and management of young people with communication and language needs, you will oversee the running of the Speech and Language Therapy team and be supported to complete your Level 3 Apprenticeship in Leadership and Management.
  • You will ensure all SLTs with the CAMHS service at Cygnet Bury follow the SLT pathway and promote functional communication systems for optimal independence.
  • You will identify training needs, promote good practice and maintain a successful inclusive communication environment.
  • To undertake this role, you should have working experience as a Speech and Language Therapist and be looking to support other in a leadership capacity.

What support will I get?

You will:
  • Be accountable to the Director of Speech and Language Therapy and the CAMHS Service Lead (Nurse).
  • Receive clinical supervision from the Clinical Lead SLT for Mental Health.
  • Join an onsite team of 3 full time SLTs.
  • Work in close collaboration with nursing, AHPs, psychology, medics, education staff, social work, families, friends and carers.

We are looking for an Experienced Speech and Language Therapist with:
  • Experience in the field of CYP, criminal justice and Mental Health Conditions.
  • Ability to lead and direct a team whilst balancing clinical and non-clinical duties.
  • Good organisational skills
  • Able to provide support and supervision to junior SLTs.
  • Ability to work flexibly in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Enthusiasm, motivation and passion.
