Registered Nurse/Paramedic Band 5 - Full time Secondment Opportunity 6 months

This is a secondment position and you should seek support and consent you're your Manager before applying for the position.

Exciting opportunities are being developed to work within the new Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and Medical Day Units (MDU) at Dorset County Hospital.

We would like to invite Registered Nurses/Paramedics who are keen to support medical and surgical emergency same day care to avoid admission to hospital for patients, whilst the Medical Day Unit is continuing to expand in size to provide same day care for elective patients. The Units are due to be operational 7/7 and staff are required to augment this service for our patients.

We are looking for enthusiastic Registered Nurses/Paramedics who are organised and can use their own initiative whilst being flexible to frequently changing situations, to work alongside the Advanced Nurse Practitioners in SDEC where you will be supporting the Acute Physicians and Surgical Consultants in admission avoidance of emergency medical and surgical admissions.

The post requires excellent communication skills, with a range of health professionals in relation to patient admission and discharge, to support the working of the team with internal and external agencies, fellow professionals and to support safe and effective patient discharges from hospital and assistance with patient flow by avoiding hospital admission.

The service is currently planned as Monday to Friday 08.00 - 18.00hrs for MDU. SDEC Monday - Friday initially 07.00 - 22.00hrs for across a shift pattern with a plan for weekend shift working in the future. Weekend hours will be 09.00 - 15.00hrs in the Medical Day Unit.

Hours: 37.5 per weekSalary: Band 5 pro rata per annum
