Cygnet Hospital Harrow provides a recovery focused service treating a wide range of mental health problems. We also offer specialist diagnostic, assessment and inpatient services for individuals with mental health needs and who also have a dual diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.

Hours:40 hours per week

Overview of service:

The Springs Unit is a Low Secure 16 bedded ward offering an inpatient rehabilitation service for men who have a dual diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and enduring mental illness.

The occupational therapy team work within a multi-disciplinary team to drive forward programmes of recovery and rehabilitation. Our care pathways are evidence based with a focus on social inclusion and independent living skills.

As an Occupational Therapist, you will provide direct clinical care which will encompass Occupational Therapy assessments, treatment and management of patients within the service.

In this role you will assess, implement and develop treatment programmes according to diagnosis and identified needs.

  • The Successful Candidate should be/have:
    • A Degree / Postgraduate Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Therapy, registration with the HCPC (Health Care Professions Council) and a member of the RCOT (Royal College of Occupational Therapy)
    • Experience in the field of adult mental health and/or acute inpatient mental health is essential
    • Currently operating as a Band 6
    • An understanding of Occupational Therapy process/interventions and can take a "hands on" approach
    • The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
    • Excellent communication / time management skills and be solution focused
