An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic individuals to start a career in medical engineering working in the Medical Physics and Engineering Department at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

We currently have Level 4 Healthcare Science Apprenticeship posts available within the Medical Physics and Engineering Department in Leeds. The successful candidates will participate in a 2 year training programme specialising in medical engineering. Formal training will be provided and apprentices will develop personal and professional skills whilst also developing skills and knowledge relating to the installation, maintenance, repair and management of medical equipment. Successful completion of the apprenticeship will qualify candidates to apply for and progress their careers within Medical Physics and Engineering.

The UK National Apprenticeship Week is being held between the 8th and 14th of February 2021 and we hope to attend the Leeds Apprenticeship Recruitment Fair at the First Direct Arena, dependant on the current Covid-19 pandemic, that coincides with this week. If it is that the recruitment fair is held and you can attend please visit the NHS stand and introduce yourselves to our clinical technologists and to our current and past Medical Engineering Apprentices who will happily discuss our apprenticeship scheme and what opportunities it brings.

If you are offered a position, you may be required to undertake a DBS. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £48 or Standard £30) from your salary over a 3 month period (including Internal staff). You will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £13 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment. DBS checks for volunteers are free.

LTHT will request electronic Factual Employment References from your previous employers. These references will be requested before you are issued with an unconditional offer of employment letter.
